Welcome

We are a community school for pregnant and parenting students and their children. We believe that education should be hands-on and relevant to real-life, college and career. We do so with a personalized school model that includes both blended-online and project-based learning.

Mission

At Longfellow Alternative High School, we provide a personalized learning environment for students to complete their high school education and build a strong future through an emphasis on attendance, academic achievement, and positive relationships. By encouraging critical thought, providing prenatal and parenting education, and partnering with community services we support diploma-driven parents and kindergarten ready children as they establish the groundwork for lifelong learning.

Vision

Every teen parent will be prepared for post-secondary education and employment. Every child will be ready for kindergarten.

Newsletter

The Longfellow Kangaroo is a student-managed and student-written newspaper that publishes articles relevant and entertaining to Longfellow High School’s student population, neighborhood, and community.  Any student may participate in the production of the paper by taking the class as an English or English elective, or by working for the paper as an extra-curricular activity.  Writing for The Longfellow Kangaroo looks very good on college applications and is an excellent way to explore a career in journalism.
